The Knysna Bull, a three-day mountain bike experience like no other in South Africa, has taken on a sponsor like no other in the form of Constantia Insurance Company Limited. The company provides insurance made personal, and for the next three years, it will be Knynsa Bull made personal by Constantia Insurance.
With no tents, queues or race villages, the Knynsa Bull made personal by Constantia Insurance provides one of the great mountain biking weekends on the local events calendar.
Making use of the ‘best of Knysna’, riders tackle the finest trails of the region before spending their afternoons and evenings at the numerous local hotspots. The jewel in the crown, of course, is the ride through Harkerville, long considered a mecca of South African mountain biking.
Last year riders had to wait until the final day to experience the highs of Harkerville; this year its dessert before main course, with riders hitting Harkerville on day two. What’s more, this is the only event on the South African MTB calendar that takes riders through Harkerville.
Participants can also look forward to an evening urban prologue, a 6km stretch of riding that sets the scene for the entire event.
Starting at The Drydock Food Co in the Knysna Waterfront (where each day of the Knysna Bull finishes), riders hit the streets of Knysna in a race against the clock – or for a gentle tour of this iconic Garden Route town. This year there’s even a stage zero, where each rider will receive a complimentary coffee and famous pie from Ou Meul Farmstall Riviersonderend for the road-trip, courtesy of Constantia Insurance.

Fronted by Knysna-local Pax, the Knynsa Bull, made personal by Constantia Insurance has planned the perfect MTB getaway.
Pax’s passion for the region comes through in the trail selection and the event’s partnership with The Knysna Sports School, a local outfit of young athletes integral to the weekend.
From route building to marshalling to riding, the Knysna Sports School will be ever present on the ride. The Knynsa Bull donates a percentage of its revenue each year to the school.
“With a unique start and finish concept, daily lunches at the Dry Dock finish line, elephant sightings and an emphasis on enjoyment, we really feel that participants at the 2018 Knynsa Bull made personal by Constantia Insurance will have an outstanding ride experience,” says Pax.
